Our Story
Paul Malcom founded Chalkline Consulting in Adelaide, South Australia in 2018. Paul is a globally experienced senior hotel executive with over 38 years in the hotel and hospitality industry, having held senior leadership roles with some of the largest global hotel Companies.
Paul’s experience provides Chalkline Consulting with a distinct advantage of understanding how to do business internationally, whilst maintaining local relevance within diverse cultures and communities.
Advice is tailored to each partner’s needs and Chalkline Consulting has very much been developed with our partners at the core of all we do. We can bring learning’s and leadership lessons from around the globe, which will help in formulating the right strategies, solutions, designs and branding for your hotel investment; whether a new build, a conversion or simply a renovation to an existing asset, we will work with you to deliver the best results.
We don’t have all the answers, but we do have a vast amount of experience and lots of ideas from having worked in different markets and environments that can help in both planning and creating the future with you.
Why the name “Chalkline”?
The name has a very personal family meaning and connection. Paul’s father, a highly decorated World War II Royal Australian Air Force pilot, was nicknamed “Chalkline” by his crew and mates. If something needed to be done, you could rely on William “Bill” Malcom to get the job done. He was unswerving along the “straight and narrow” each and every time. So as a reference and reminder to honor an Aussie war hero, Chalkline Consulting was established to provide that same assurance and reliability to its partners, as Bill did with his squadron.
